Massachusetts Building Trades Council, AFL-CIO Holds Rally to Support Destination Resort Casinos Hundreds of Union Construction Workers Will Rally Prior to Hearing at State House
BOSTON, MASS. (October 28, 2009) - Hundreds of union construction workers and supporters are expected to rally Thursday, October 29, at 8:00 AM in support of destination resort casinos prior to a hearing scheduled to take place at the State House at 10:00 a.m. Thursday Morning.
WHEN: Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 8:00 am WHO: Union Construction Workers and Supporters WHERE: The Boston Common, near the State House Steps WHY: Resort Casinos would represent as many as 20,000 jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue to the State. With the construction industry experiencing unemployment levels in excess of 30% and the State facing an estimated $1.3 billion shortfall, the State will be facing difficult choices. This issue is too important and there is too much at stake to quit. We in the Building Trades don't quit until the job is done. That is why we will continue to work towards the ultimate passage of resort style casino gaming. For more information, contact: Francis X. Callahan, President, Massachusetts Building Trades Council, AFL-CIO, (617) 436-3551.
